SMART KITCHEN STORAGE

The one room in your home that should always be ultra organised, is the kitchen. A clever kitchen, set up with efficient storage solutions makes it so much easier to find what you need in a jiffy and whip up those culinary delights with ease.

So whether you have a small galley kitchen, an island bench layout, or spacious gourmet space, smart kitchen storage ideas will ensure you keep your kitchen clutter free and Masterchef efficient.

Drawer Organisers
One of the most basic, yet most useful types of kitchen storage is the drawer organiser. Whilst most kitchen’s do feature a cutlery drawer, many people overlook using drawer organisers for their other tools and utensils. You can find drawer organisers in a variety of finishes from plastic to timber and metal, plus, there are also ones with non-slip bottoms, so they don’t slide around every time you open the drawer.

Cupboard Organisers
Cupboard organisers make it easy to find what you need in a jiffy. Organisers that are mounted inside the cupboard door are popular for items such as kitchen towels or cleaning products, whilst organisers that sit inside the cupboard itself, (such as Lazy Susans), are great for providing easy access to a cupboards contents in a spin.

Storage Towers
If you’re a keen cook, then it’s likely you’ve accumulated a whole variety of pots and pans over the years. A simple kitchen storage tower provides a busy kitchen with more storage space without taking up the extra room. Their high and narrow frame, makes it easy to place them into the corner of your kitchen or inside a pantry, to instantly give you extra shelving room.

Pot Racks
Another great storage solution for pots and pans is a pot rack. An attractive pot rack, either hung over a kitchen island, or mounted on a wall, not only looks great, but speeds up cooking time. When choosing your pot rack, consider a design that complements your decor and accommodates all your pots. You’ll find racks in a variety of shapes and styles - with everything from wrought iron, stainless steel, copper and wood on offer. Some pot racks even feature built-in lighting to fully illuminate your workspace.

Pull Out Shelves
Sliding shelves are a clever way to increase the accessibility and storage space of your kitchen. They're also a great storage alternative for people who suffer from arthritis or have difficulty reaching inside kitchen cupboards. If you’re handy with DIY you can install the pull out shelves yourself, or opt to hire a professional to do it. Sliding drawers sit on glides/tracks that are mounted on either side of the cupboard. If extra storage space is needed, you can add additional shelves to a single cabinet, to multiply your existing space. You can even install sliding shelves in your pantry.

Kitchen Carts
A kitchen cart is just like a portable version of a kitchen island. A well-designed cart will provide you with extra food prep space, serving area, and storage, plus you’re able to manoeuvre it wherever you need it. Before buying a kitchen cart, look at how much space you have in your kitchen. Then, assess how much storage or cooking space you need. There are carts with wheels, which give you more storage flexibility, and there are carts that come complete with granite or butcher block counter tops - which are perfect if you plan to use it for a plenty of prep work.

Spice Racks
A spice rack is an inexpensive way to get those numerous spice bottles in order. There’s a great selection of spice racks to choose from, so do your research beforehand and find the one that works best for you. For cooks who love displaying their spices on the counter, a carousel spice rack that spins around works really well. Alternatively, if you prefer to keep ingredients out of sight, (or counter space is limited), then a wall-mounted or cabinet mounted spice rack is a great option.

Plastic Containers
Everyday plastic containers are one of the easiest ways to keep your kitchen organised. As well as an infinite number of styles in different shapes and sizes, you also have themed sets of plastic storage that will streamline every part of your kitchen storage. Containers that fit inside one another or lock together are also a great idea for saving precious space.

Countertop Canisters
The countertop canister has been a dominant kitchen accessory for decades - remember Grandma’s cookie jar? Today, canisters are still a popular kitchen item and are designed to hold anything and everything . There are canisters for cooking utensils, paper towels, napkins, tea and coffee, bread, or anything else you can think of to store on the countertop. Canisters not only add a decorative touch to kitchen, but they also help keep your food fresh and at arms reach.

Wine Racks
Instead of trying to squeeze those extra wine bottles into a cupboard corner, why not proudly display them in an handy wine rack? The combination of an attractive rack and an handpicked wine collection, can look amazing in a kitchen or dining space. You can choose racks in a range of finishes such as wood, metal or stainless steel - and a variety of colours. To determine the best size rack for your wine collection, count how many bottles of wine you already have and then double it. Buying a larger rack will allow room for your growing collection. Make sure the wine rack is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the bottles and always place it in a cool location away from direct sunlight and humidity.
